Os primeiros dois cap\u00edtulos s\u00e3o a conclus\u00e3o da hist\u00f3ria da sucess\u00e3o, mostrando que Deus escolhera Salom\u00e3o para suceder Davi, seu pai. A se\u00e7\u00e3o sobre Salom\u00e3o (1 Reis 3-11) \u00e9 derivada do livro dos anais de Salom\u00e3o (1 Rs 11.41). Os registros da corte dos reinos do norte e do sul fornecem grande parte dos dados que comp\u00f5em os livros. Certos estudiosos prop\u00f5em que a declara\u00e7\u00e3o na Septuaginta em 1 Reis 8.53 (no Texto Massor\u00e9tico [TM] \u00e9 1 Rs 8.12) foi extra\u00eddo\u00a0 do livro de Jasar (o justo?) que tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 mencionado em Josu\u00e9 e 2 Samuel. As se\u00e7\u00f5es exclusivas sobre Elias e Eliseu vieram de uma \u00fanica fonte. A data mais recente para a composi\u00e7\u00e3o final de 1 e 2 Reis \u00e9 560 a.C., o \u00faltimo evento datado no livro, que se refere \u00e0 eleva\u00e7\u00e3o de Joaquim no cativeiro pelo Evil-Merodaque. LaSor e outros estudiosos arrazoam que a composi\u00e7\u00e3o foi feita logo ap\u00f3s a queda de Jerusal\u00e9m em 586 a.C., e que o \u00faltimo evento \u00e9 um ap\u00eandice posterior.<\/p>\n<p>Assim, mais de 500 anos s\u00e3o abrangidos nesta pesquisa hist\u00f3rica.<\/p>\n<p>Durante esse meio mil\u00eanio houve mudan\u00e7as dram\u00e1ticas em Israel e no mundo do Oriente M\u00e9dio. Todo este material foi reunido e comentado por um escritor que falava da perspectiva do t\u00e9rmino da monarquia e da destrui\u00e7\u00e3o do Templo e cidadela de Davi.
