Que possamos ser sal e luz neste mundo podre e trevoso, como disse Jesus Cristo.<\/p>\n

Durante o serm\u00e3o do Monte, Jesus resolveu ensinar aos seus disc\u00edpulos princ\u00edpios para uma ora\u00e7\u00e3o eficaz. No bojo desse ensino, o Mestre disse: \u201csantificado seja o teu nome\u201d (Mt 6.9). Mas, neste sentido, o que significa \u201csantificar o nome de Deus\u201d? \u00c9 o que tentaremos explicar.<\/p>\n

Em 1 Pedro 2.9, est\u00e1 escrito assim: \u201cMas v\u00f3s sois a gera\u00e7\u00e3o eleita, o sacerd\u00f3cio real, a na\u00e7\u00e3o santa, o povo adquirido, para que anuncieis as virtudes daquele que vos chamou das trevas para a sua maravilhosa luz\u201d. Observemos a express\u00e3o \u201cpovo adquirido\u201d. Ser adquirido significa, nas palavras de Pedro, que os crist\u00e3os n\u00e3o s\u00e3o mais deles pr\u00f3prios. Vejamos o vers\u00edculo seguinte: \u201cv\u00f3s que, em outro tempo, n\u00e3o \u00e9reis povo, mas, agora, sois povo de Deus\u201d (1 Pe 2.10).<\/p>\n

Corroborando Pedro, Paulo diz somos templo do Esp\u00edrito e que n\u00e3o somos de n\u00f3s mesmos (1 Co 6.19). O ap\u00f3stolo dos gentios vai al\u00e9m, ao dizer aos cor\u00edntios que eles foram comprados por alto pre\u00e7o; e que, por isso, deveriam glorificar a Deus atrav\u00e9s de seus corpos e de seus esp\u00edritos, os quais pertenciam ao Senhor (1 Co 6.20). Esse entendimento \u00e9 o primeiro passo para entendermos o que seja santificar o nome de Deus.<\/p>\n

O segundo passo para compreendermos o que Jesus quis dizer quando disse \u201csantificado seja o teu nome\u201d \u00e9 que o nome de Deus est\u00e1 sobre os crist\u00e3os. Essa verdade pode ser vista por meio das palavras de Tiago, quando da assembleia acerca do rito mosaico em Atos 15:<\/p>\n

Sim\u00e3o relatou como, primeiramente, Deus visitou os gentios, para tomar deles um povo para o seu nome. E com isto concordam as palavras dos profetas, como est\u00e1 escrito: Depois disto, voltarei e reedificarei o tabern\u00e1culo de Davi, qua est\u00e1 ca\u00eddo; levant\u00e1-lo-ei das suas ru\u00ednas e tornarei a edific\u00e1-lo. Para que o resto dos homens busque ao Senhor, e tamb\u00e9m sobre os gentios sobre os quais o meu nome \u00e9 invocado, diz o Senhor, que faz todas essas coisas que s\u00e3o conhecidas desde toda a eternidade (v. 14-18).<\/em><\/p>\n

O pr\u00f3prio Pedro, no vers\u00edculo 7 dessa passagem, disse: \u201cVar\u00f5es irm\u00e3os, bem sabeis que j\u00e1 h\u00e1 muito tempo Deus me elegeu dentre v\u00f3s, para que os gentios ouvissem da minha boca a palavra do evangelho e cressem\u201d. Gentio \u00e9 toda pessoa que n\u00e3o \u00e9 israelita. Portanto, se n\u00f3s somos gentios e crist\u00e3os, o nome de Deus est\u00e1 sobre n\u00f3s.<\/p>\n

O terceiro entendimento que devemos ter acerca da santifica\u00e7\u00e3o do nome de Deus \u00e9 que esta tamb\u00e9m est\u00e1 fundamentada no testemunho eficaz. Por exemplo, se eu digo que sou de Cristo, mas n\u00e3o ando como ele andou (1 Jo 2.6), demonstrarei que n\u00e3o entendi esse conceito ou que n\u00e3o quero glorificar o nome dele por algum motivo. Isso quer dizer que n\u00e3o basta apenas eu orar santificando o nome de Jesus. Preciso viver Jesus para santific\u00e1-lo verdadeiramente: \u201cJ\u00e1 estou crucificado com Cristo; e vivo, n\u00e3o mais eu, mas Cristo vive em mim; e a vida que agora vivo na carne vivo-a na f\u00e9 do Filho de Deus, o qual me amou e se entregou a si mesmo por mim\u201d (Gl 2.20).<\/p>\n

Amados leitores, que possamos ser sal e luz neste mundo podre e trevoso, como disse Aquele que devemos santificar, Jesus Cristo:<\/p>\n

V\u00f3s sois o sal da terra; e, se o sal for ins\u00edpido, com que se h\u00e1 de salgar? Para nada mais presta, sen\u00e3o para se lan\u00e7ar fora e ser pisado pelos homens. V\u00f3s sois a luz do mundo; n\u00e3o se pode esconder uma cidade edificada sobre um monte; nem se acende a candeia e se coloca debaixo do alqueire, mas, no velador, e d\u00e1 luz a todos que est\u00e3o na casa. Assim resplande\u00e7a a vossa luz diante dos homens, para que vejam as vossas boas obras e glorifiquem o vosso Pai, que est\u00e1 nos c\u00e9us (Mt 5.13-16).<\/em><\/p>\n
