Vale la pena!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Sean Crowley, porta-voz do grupo \u201cCompassion &amp; Choices\u201d, que luta pelo direito \u00e0 morte com dignidade e que apoiou Maynard, informou que ela morreu no dia 1\u00ba de novembro. \u201cBrittany faleceu, mas seu amor pela vida e a natureza, sua paix\u00e3o e seu esp\u00edrito perduram\u201d, disse a presidente da organiza\u00e7\u00e3o, Barbara Coombs Lee.<\/p>\n<p>Mesmo ap\u00f3s o an\u00fancio da decis\u00e3o de sua morte, ela chegou a afirmar, na quinta-feira (30), que o suic\u00eddio assistido poderia ser adiado, porque ela estava se sentindo bem. \u201cEu ainda me sinto bem o suficiente, e ainda tenho bastante alegria. Eu ainda rio com os meus amigos e minha fam\u00edlia, e n\u00e3o parece ser o momento certo agora\u201d, disse. Neste s\u00e1bado, por\u00e9m, de acordo com a Associated Press, ela optou pelo suic\u00eddio assistido, em sua casa, em Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>A hist\u00f3ria de Maynard chamou a aten\u00e7\u00e3o dos norte-americanos. Ap\u00f3s ser diagnosticada com c\u00e2ncer em est\u00e1gio terminal, a californiana decidiuse mudar de S\u00e3o Francisco para o Oregon, porque esse estado norte-americano permite o suic\u00eddio assistido para pacientes terminais. Desde ent\u00e3o ela dedicou suas \u00faltimas semanas de vida a uma campanha para que outros que se veem diante de uma morte iminente possam usufruir do mesmo direito.<\/p>\n<p>Maynard foi diagnosticada em janeiro com um glioblastoma, um tumor no c\u00e9rebro, e mais tarde ouviu dos m\u00e9dicos que s\u00f3 teria seis meses de vida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDepois de meses de pesquisas, minha fam\u00edlia e eu chegamos a uma conclus\u00e3o dolorosa: n\u00e3o existe um tratamento que possa salvar minha vida, e os tratamentos que me foram recomendados destruiriam o tempo que me resta\u201d, ela disse em um artigo que escreveu para o site da emissora CNN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIrei morrer no andar de cima, no quarto que divido com meu marido, com ele e minha m\u00e3e ao meu lado, e falecer pacificamente com m\u00fasica que eu gosto no fundo\u201d, declarou Maynard, no primeiro v\u00eddeo que divulgou sobre o assunto.<\/p>\n<p>Maynard planejava tomar um medicamento obtido com receita m\u00e9dica para tirar a vida quando sua dor se tornasse insuport\u00e1vel, de acordo com o Compassion &amp; Choices.<\/p>\n<p>Em 1997, o Oregon se tornou o primeiro estado norte-americano a permitir o suic\u00eddio assistido para pacientes em estado terminal. Washington, Montana, Vermont e o Novo M\u00e9xico seguiram o exemplo desde ent\u00e3o e s\u00e3o os outros quatro dos cinco \u00fanicos Estados dos EUA que autorizam o
